Rapid response helps protect Parramatta River

Emergency Response | Project Delivery

When a sewage pumping station collapsed unexpectedly, causing a leakage of sewage to the Parramatta river, and attracting the EPA’s concern, Sydney Water asked Atlas to assist in developing a solution.

In just 6 weeks, Atlas worked closely with Interflow to create an innovative pre-fabrication and installation solution, an Issued for Construction drawing package and a full construction methodology, along with having completed all requisite safety reviews and stakeholder engagements.

The innovative design, enabled by the breadth of the team, allowed huge reduction in typical construction time; leading to the station being commissioned and operational just 5 months later.

“SWC had an emergency and needed extra support Atlas & Interflow worked with SWC to deliver not just what was required, but an innovative, faster-to-construct, more efficient solution to solve the problem.

That saved significant time, money and potential reputational impact to Sydney Water.”

In turn this minimised environmental issues, maintained Sydney Water’s reputation in the local community and averted conflict with the EPA.
