Condition Assessment | Detailed Design I Constructability

Atlas was engaged to deliver the design for a large roof replacement for the North Richmond Reservoir for Sydney Water and given existing condition assessment data (including ROV) for input into the design.

After an initial site inspection and review of existing condition assessment and ROV footage, the team raised concerns over structural component ratings and consequential operational and reputational risk for SWC. Rather than taking the existing documentation at face value, and given the risk level to SWC, we performed a full roof assessment from a crane manbox and boat, uncovering significant degradation and failure of structural support beams.

These issues were so significant, they posed immediate risk to the operational availability of the asset, water supply reliability, SWC’s reputation with customers, and potentially catastrophic safety risks associated with the future roof replacement.

Atlas worked with SWC to develop and deliver a suite of short-term repairs to extend roof life, ensure worker safety, and provide operational reliability while long-term design and repair modifications were implemented.

Going the extra mile to validate data can deliver big dividends.
