The Effluent Transfer Pump Station (EPS) at Warriewood WWTP pumps effluent to the ocean outfall during peak flows – avoiding overflow to the local creek and beaches.
A business case was raised to replace the obsolete DC motors with AC motors and upgrade the associated pumps and associated equipment.
Working closely with SWC’s operations and maintenance and asset teams, we discovered that the plant hydraulics had changed since the solution was proposed, due to various upgrades throughout the plant’s life. A creative alternative solution was co-developed, raising an existing weir 300mm, and eliminating the need for the switchgear, motors, and pumps entirely.
